make your own crayons

Did you know you could make your own crayons, using the old and broken crayons you already have? Let the kids help you remove the paper wrapping from each crayon, and arrange the broken bits into silicone moulds. When you’re happy with the colour combinations, just pop the silicone moulds into the oven and bake for around 10 minutes on a very low heat (we had our oven set to 120C).

Crayon clear-up

Our art cupboard was a bit of a mess so the boys helped sort through all our pens, pencils and crayons – saving the broken crayons for melting our own. Everything felt much more organised afterwards!

Grab your silicone moulds

We grouped colours together into silicone moulds, ready to bake at 120C for 10 minutes.

Set them aside to cool

Let them cool completely so you can remove them without leaving residue.

We love the end result!

They could make a fun and thrifty gift too (from the kids).
