At home puppet shows

Hands down the favourite tradition we have at home is to take it in turns to put on a puppet show. All this is, is hiding behind their chest of drawers with some stuffed toys, and inventing a story line as you go along.

To get you started, here are some of our more successful story lines so far:

  • recreating “a squash and a squeeze” with a little old lady squashed into the dolls house, and squeezing other stuffed animals in with her.

  • recreating the story of little red riding hood, who comes across a wolf in the woods, and then arrives at the little toy house only to discover the wolf inside, pretending to be her grandma.

  • absolutely anything involving the Cookie Monster. For example the Italian chef baking cookies, turning his back, and the Cookie Monster secretly gobbling them all up, and the chef accusing the children of eating them!

  • recreating “ the tiger who came to tea” with a tiger puppet who rings the doorbell and drinks all the tea, eats all the food, and then leaves.
